Amaranth Pink Beauty

£3.50

One of the most ancient crops on earth, amaranth was a sacred staple of the Aztecs for 8,000 years, and Pink Beauty shows exactly why they treasured it. Vivid pink stems and vibrant green foliage make this a true edible ornamental, while the tender young leaves taste like mild spinach. Drought-tough, heat-loving, and gloriously bold.

Average 100 seeds.

Growing Information

Sowing info

Surface sow seed from February to April in pots of moist peat free compost or direct in place from March. Keep at a temperature of 20 to 25 C during germination, and allow the temperature to reduce at night. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged. Light helps germination, which usually takes 3 to 15 days.

Growing info

When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into small pots and grow on until after last frost. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out in full sun. Amaranth is generally unbothered by pests and so doesn’t need netting.
