This is a fearsome beast of a chilli bred for heat, with twisted, stinger-like fruits that look as intense as they taste. Developed in Italy and scoring over 1,400,000 on the Scoville scale, it delivers a searing, slightly sweet burn that builds to a full-on inferno – not for the faint-hearted. A brutally hot showstopper for true chilli thrill-seekers.

An early start can help increase your harvest as chilli plants can be slow to mature. Start under grow lights in January, or late February without lights. Requires warmth to germinate and grow on (27-32 C, an unheated greenhouse will not be warm enough). When plants reach about 20 cm in height, pinch out the growing tip to encourage bushy growth. Feed weekly with a quarter strength organic feed.
Continue to pot on each time roots appear out of the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot until planting out after last frost. Peppers love heat, so will always perform best in the greenhouse or polytunnel. Wear gloves when handling seeds or fresh peppers and avoid all contact with eyes.
