Here’s what’s in your box: Perennial Nodding Onion Herb Mountain MInt Microgreens Red Cabbage Beef and Onion Tree Lettuce Copacabana Perennial Nodding Onion Sowing info Nodding onion seed can be direct sown in early spring, after the seeds have been refrigerated for 60 days. To start indoors, keep the seed in the refrigerator for 60 days then plant 2-3 seeds each in individual pots. Keep the soil lightly moist and the temperature around 15C until germination. Growing info Usually flowers from year 2, this variety will self seed, so you’ll have a bumper crop going forward. Blog – How to Sow and Grow Onions Herb Mountain Mint Sowing info Sow seeds indoors 0.5cm deep, in pots or trays of peat free compost and lightly cover the seeds with a sprinkling of compost, and place at a temperature of 20°C. Germination can be erratic taking from 2 weeks to 3 months. Can be sown in Autumn to overwinter in the greenhouse or coldframe. Growing info When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into 9cm pots to grow on. Harden off the plants before planting out where they are to grow after all risk of frost has passed. Cut leaves as required for eating. Final height 1.5m. Place in a warm, light place such as a windowsill and keep moist but not waterlogged. Growing info Sprouts should appear in 6-10 days and be ready to harvest in less than 2 weeks. Harvest when shoots are 3-5 cm tall, cutting with scissors 1 cm above the root base. Sow every 10 days for a continuous supply. Harden off saplings and plant out when all risk of frost has passed in a sunny spot with well drained soil. Lettuce Copacabana Sowing info Surface sow onto moist compost and just cover. When you harvest lettuce, you can just remove the lower, outer leaves to significantly extend your harvest period as the plant will continue to grow.
