Also known as Tepin or Chile TepÃn, is a tiny but legendary pepper native to the Americas, especially Texas and Mexico. Often called the “mother of all peppers,” its small, round fruits deliver a smoky, citrusy heat that hits fast and fierce – known in Mexico as arrebatado for its intense but short-lived burn. Bold, untamed, and packed with heritage, it’s a must-grow for serious chilli lovers.
Average 10 seeds.

An early start can help increase your harvest as chilli plants can be slow to mature. Start under grow lights in January, or late February without lights. Requires warmth to germinate and grow on (an unheated greenhouse will not be warm enough). When pepper plants reach about 20 cm in height, you can pinch out the growing tip to encourage bushy growth. Feed weekly with a quarter strength organic feed.
Continue to pot on each time roots appear out of the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot until planting out after last frost. Peppers love heat, so will always perform best in the greenhouse or polytunnel.
