‘Double Sun King’ is a show-stopping garden favourite, bursting with large, fully double golden blooms atop tall, sturdy stems. Perfect for sunny borders or the back of a flower bed, these striking sunflowers add height, depth, and cheerful colour, creating a dramatic summer statement. Easy to grow and long-lasting, they’re just as stunning as cut flowers, bringing a touch of sunshine indoors while brightening your garden all season long.

Sunflowers grow quickly, so don’t be tempted to start too early. Sow sunflower seeds 1.5cm deep into individual pots of peat-free compost. Can also be sown direct after last frost. Germination takes 7 – 14 days at 21 – 27C. When your plants reach about 30cm tall, plant them out into the garden after all risk of frost has passed.
Sunflowers thrive in sun and fertile soil, but also grow well in containers. For maximum height, plant in the ground. Tall varieties may need staking; brushing seedlings regularly before planting helps strengthen stems by simulating wind.
