An attractive torpedo shaped red onion that first became popular in the 1800’s in Tuscany Italy. They have a sweet mild flavour making them ideal for slicing raw into salads or adding whole to casseroles. Can be harvested immature as a salad onion.
We have trialled these seeds and germination is lower than our usual standards, so we will send you two packs. We recommend sowing twice the amount you normally would.
Average 100 seeds.

Can be direct sown or multi sown into module trays before planting out. Sow seed 1 cm deep and keep the soil lightly moist and the temperature around 15 C until germination. Plant out after all risk of frost has passed.
Thin seedlings to roughly 10 cm spacing, thinnings can be enjoyed in salads. Onions are ready to harvest when foliage flops over and starts to yellow and onions should then be hung somewhere dry, to cure the skin for 2 weeks before storage.
