This is a heirloom kale variety that behaves as a perennial if all flower sprouts are removed each year, making it amazing value for money. It has unusual green and purple leaves and is halfway between brussel sprouts and a kale. It produces an abundance of leaves through winter and into early spring and is delicious steamed or stir fried. Flavour improves when it has experienced frost.

When transplanting kale, plant it deeper in the ground to ensure a sturdy stem. Plant kale at a distance of 60cm apart and cover with a protective netting or fleece to prevent attack from birds and insects. Water the plants thoroughly after planting.
