An old and unusual variety grown for its striking seed heads, named for its distinctive shape – one large central head surrounded by clusters of smaller ones, like a mother hen with her chicks. It produces beautiful reddish-pink blooms that are just as eye-catching, followed by seed heads that are prized for dried flower arrangements. The edible seeds can be used in cakes and breads for a subtle nutty flavour.
Average 50 seeds.

Direct sow poppies outdoors where they are to grow in autumn or very early spring. Position in full sun. Sow seeds thinly on the surface of the soil. Plants will germinate naturally once conditions are right.
Water regularly until plants are fully established. Growing poppies is easy and once established, they require very little attention. Poppies will self seed if allowed to do so. Please note only breadseed poppy seed is edible, do not harvest seed from other types of poppy. Seeds are the only edible part of the plant.
Sowing Months: October- November or February – March
