The name of this viola couldn’t be more apt; its stunning petals have varying brush strokes of all shades of purple, pinks, oranges and yellow ‘painted’ on them. You truly could get lost gazing at their beauty. We think they make the very best edible flowers and are particularly pretty in butters and summer rolls or used to decorate cakes and pavlovas.

Surface sow in small pots and just cover. Can be sown throughout spring, summer or autumn but avoid the hottest months as above 20C can prevent germination. When large enough to handle pot on seedlings individually and grow on in a cooler place. Plant out when roots have filled the pots or modules.
