Growing Information

Sowing info

Surface sow seeds in small pots of moist, peat-free compost and just cover. Storage tomatoes need a late start no earlier than April in milder areas but can be started with other tomato crops in colder or more northerly areas. They need heat to germinate (18-21 C), and benefit from lots of light, so supplement both if necessary. Germination takes place within 1-2 weeks.

Growing info

Plant out after the last frost. This indeterminate variety requires support. Remove side shoots and lower 50% of foliage to maintain straight, healthy plants. Though tomatoes can be grown outside, they will perform better for longer in a polytunnel or greenhouse. Remove fruit when full sized but not ripe. Harvest trusses and string up in a bunch immediately. Store in a cool, dark location and check regularly and remove any spoiled fruit.
