Included in this bundle:

  • Perennial Spinach New Zealand

That’s right - this spinach is perennial. Called Warrigal Greens in its native New Zealand, it was apparently eaten by Captain Cook and his crew to prevent scurvy in the 1700s. A trailing heirloom spinach that can withstand warmer summers without bolting and return each year except after the coldest winters. Can be harvested and cooked like normal spinach.

  • Perennial Onion Red Bunching

This heirloom perennial onion forms clumps of slim red bulbs with long green stalks and can be harvested ‘cut and come again’ style like chives. Eaten raw in salads, it has a lovely balanced tender taste with just the right sharpness of onion. Cooked, it melts into oniony sweetness. If the roots are left in the ground it will come back again and again.

  • Plantain Purple Perversion

A plantain with wonderful deep purple frilly leaves, growing small white flowers on a spike. A hard working modern heirloom perennial ‘edimental’, its young leaves can be eaten raw or cooked, just treat like spinach in the kitchen. Great in soups, stews, curries and salads alike.

  • Artichoke Italian Purple

We love this purple heirloom artichoke that produces ‘edimental’ purple flower buds. The buds grow large on long stems up to 1.8m and give you a delicious perennial crop. Steam them and pluck off the leaves to dip them in melted butter for a treat worth waiting for. Alternatively, preserve the hearts in oil or vinegar.

  • Kale Cottagers

This is a perennial heirloom kale variety, making it amazing value for money. It has unusual green and purple leaves and is halfway between brussel sprouts and a kale. It produces an abundance of leaves through winter and into early spring and is delicious steamed or stir fried. Flavour improves when it has experienced frost.

  • Gift Bag

Our super cute eco cotton gift bag - fits 5-10 packets of seeds (all peas and beans are bulkier packets - if your gift doesn't contain these, 10 regular packets fit well).

Alternatively you can select a gift bag with a personalised message at checkout.
