Growing Information

Sowing info

Sow directly from March, or in late autumn to overwinter for earlier blooms. Scatter thinly into finely raked soil and cover lightly. Keep soil moist until germination, which takes 2–3 weeks. Avoid transplanting as plants dislike root disturbance.

Growing info

Thin seedlings to 25cm apart. Once established water only during dry spells. This biennial will usually flower in its first year except in cool summers when it will be the second year. Cut flowers regularly to encourage further blooms, or leave seed heads to develop for drying. Final height 100cm.
