Meet your new leafy legend: a giant, perennial heirloom kale with leaves up to 1 meter long and serious flavour credentials. Extremely frost hardy and easy to grow, this 1850’s classic grows big, bold, and beautiful with buttery soft tender green leaves. Named for the multiple smooth heads produced down the stems that will regrow once picked, it is a short-lived perennial lasting 3-5 years. This variety proves that sometimes, bigger is better.Â
Average 50 seeds.

Sow seed at a depth of 1cm, does not need extra heat to germinate. Kale plants can be transplanted to their final positions approximately 5 weeks from sowing.
When transplanting kale, plant it deeper in the ground to ensure a sturdy stem. Plant kale at a distance of 60cm apart and cover with a protective netting or fleece to prevent attack from birds and insects. Water the plants thoroughly after planting. Kale is exceptionally hardy and requires little aftercare.Â
Sowing Months: March – August
