It’s just as happy in an ornamental border or on a dinner plate, adding sophistication to your side dish. A highly frost resistant heirloom, it’s a great crop to add colour to the garden during the UK winter.

When transplanting kale, plant it deeper in the ground to ensure a sturdy stem. Plant kale at a distance of 60cm apart and cover with a protective netting or fleece to prevent attack from birds and insects. Water the plants thoroughly after planting.
