The incredible flavour of true wasabi can also be found in the Japanese Wasabi radish. This Daikon-type radish packs a wallop of tingling wasabi heat, making it a much easier to grow substitute for the famously tricky true wasabi root. We love to add the peppery flavor to Asian salads and poke bowls.

Best sown direct from mid summer onwards in a sunny position. Germination will usually take 5 to 7 days. Sow at a depth of 1 cm in shallow drills and keep moist. Protect young seedlings from birds.
As roots swell, harvest the largest roots to allow more room for others to grow larger. Succession sowing every 2-4 weeks will ensure a continual supply. Will not perform well in Spring/Summer as prone to bolting.
