Carrot New Kuroda

£3.50

This is the best-tasting and easiest to grow orange carrot we’ve tried. A refined selection of the traditional Japanese Kuroda type, it produces blunt-tipped, sugary sweet orange roots that thrive even in tough soil and hot summer conditions. Bred to withstand tropical heat, this hardy heirloom is an exceptional choice for spring and summer growing. Also stores well.

Growing Information

sowing info

Sow carrot seeds thinly where they are to grow at a depth of 1cm. Germination will take 10 to 20 days. To avoid attracting carrot root fly, avoid thinning seedlings, instead allowing them to grow larger and harvest every other carrot to enjoy as baby roots. Carrots dislike soils with too many nutrients, so avoid use of fertilisers and manures. Sandy soils produce the straightest roots.

growing info

Carrots perform well in containers of at least 30 cm depth and raised 60cm off the ground can prevent carrot root fly attack. Water well to encourage germination. Once germinated, carrots should be watered only when necessary.
