September is ideal to start preparing for the cooler months ahead. It’s a perfect time to sow a variety of seeds that will thrive in the autumn and winter seasons. Consider planting hardy greens, such as winter lettuce, which will continue to grow in cooler temperatures. Additionally, it’s a great opportunity to sow vegetables like cauliflower and beetroots, which will develop sweetness as they mature through the winter. Discover the best seeds to sow in September and enjoy a thriving garden throughout the year!
This surprising cool weather heirloom radish is the reverse of what you’d expect from our stalwart veg patch crop. With white skin, tinged with green at the top, the interior flesh is entirely pinky red – the colour of watermelon flesh. It is a particularly cold hardy variety perfect for overwintering. Not suitable for spring sowing.
