Best sown direct outdoors in spring, or in autumn for early blooms the following year. Scatter seeds thinly onto finely prepared soil and lightly press down — do not cover, as light aids germination. Keep soil moist until seedlings establish. Germination takes 10–20 days. Thin seedlings to 15–20cm apart.
Water lightly and avoid overfeeding for sturdier stems. When cutting for the vase, sear stems ends in boiling water for 7-10 seconds before arranging. Allow some seed heads to mature for beautiful dried pods. Not edible. Final height 70cm.
