A beautiful dual-purpose Nigella that’s as useful as it is ornamental. First, you’ll get those classic delicate white “Love-in-a-Mist” flowers floating above fine, feathery foliage, then the real show begins — dramatic dark seed pods that make a striking feature in borders and are perfect for cutting or drying.

Best sown direct from March or in Autumn for early blooms the following year. If starting indoors, sow 4 – 6 weeks before last frost. Scatter thinly into well-prepared soil, cover lightly, and water in. Germination takes 14–21 days.
Thin seedlings to 20cm spacing. Nigella dislikes being transplanted, so direct sowing is best. Drought tolerant once established. Harvest or deadhead regularly for continuous flowers, or leave seed pods to mature for drying. Final height 40cm.
