Germination 12-20 days.Growing infoTransplant when large enough to handle, allowing 45cm between plants each way. If the weather is dry, water in well when transplanting. Firm planting will ensure solid hearts. Squash TromboncinoSowing infoSquash are very fast growing and will quickly become large plants, so do not be tempted to start too early. Sow seeds 1.5cm deep in small pots filled with peat free compost. Sow the seeds on their side, if laid flat, water can sit on top of the seed and cause it to rot. Keep at a temperature of 20-25C until after germination, which usually takes 7-10 days.Growing infoThis squash will thrive in a sheltered, sunny spot. For straight fruit grow vertically over an arch or trellis and let gravity do it’s thing. Position in full sun. Sow nasturtium seeds thinly, at a depth of 20mm and cover seed with its own depth of soil. Nasturtiums can also be sown in pots and grown in the greenhouse before planting out in their final position. Germination usually takes 7-12 days.Growing infoWater regularly until plants are fully established. Sow thinly, 1cm deep and cover lightly with soil. Keep watered during dry weather.Growing infoTransplant seedlings to their final position when they have 4-5 leaves and are large enough to handle, about 5 weeks from sowing. Allow a minimum of 60cm between plants and 75cm between rows. Firm in well and water regularly. Harvest before the flowers open and when shoots are around 10cm long. Regular picking will encourage more shoots. Don’t remove the large leaves as these will protect the next batch of developing shoots. Place some fine mesh netting over the plants to prevent against pest damage. Tomato Karma Purple Sowing infoSurface sow seeds in small pots of moist, peat-free compost and just cover. Tomatoes are fast growing plants, so best started in mid to late spring. They need heat to germinate, and benefit from lots of light, so supplement both if necessary. Germination takes place within 1-2 weeks.Growing infoOnce plants reach roughly 20cm in height, start feeding with quarter strength organic feed. Pot on when roots are visible through drainage holes and plant out after last frost. Will require support. Remove side shoots and lower 50% of foliage to maintain straight, healthy plants.
