Then using your fingertips, rub in the butter until you have fine breadcrumbs. Mix the warm milk and water in a jug then add to your flour mixture and mix until you have a soft dough. Lightly flour a work surface and knead your dough for 15-20 minutes or until you have a smooth, elastic dough. Leave the dough to rise until doubled in size in a mixing bowl covered loosely with a tea towel in a warm spot. Once your dough has doubled in size, take it from the bowl and knock the air out just using your hands. Then divide the dough into 16 equal sized rolls and arrange on an oiled baking tray. Cover with a piece of oiled clingfilm and leave to rise for another hour or until they have doubled in size. While they’re rising, pre-heat your oven to 220℃. Once they have doubled in size, lightly brush the tops with milk and sprinkle your poppy seeds on top. Bake for 10 minutes until risen & golden.
