Keep stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved then remove from the heat and transfer to a glass jug or bowl. Allow the syrup to cool slightly and add the pine needles while still slightly warm and leave them to steep for 24 hours. After 24 hours, strain out the syrup from the pine needles and discard the pine needles. Bottle the syrup and keep stored in the fridge.
