The morning will be spent with Lucy in various locations around the homestead, looking at how you can plan your garden to give yourself the maximum amount of food across the longest period possible.
Topics covered will include:
- What to grow in summer for eating in winter
- The best crops for preserving
- Must-have heavy hitting crops
- Edible perennials for low maintenance year round food
- What to grow over winter and when to sow it
- Making the most of growing under cover and indoors
- A look at the root cellar for electricity free storage
11.30 am Short comfort break, tea/coffee and homemade cake and snacks
12 pm Join Mike to learn about preserving your harvest
Mike will teach you how to make the most of abundant summer harvests so you can enjoy the fruits of your labour all through the year.
Topics covered will include:
- Canning, water bath and pressure.
- Dehydration
- Pickling
- Fermenting
- Curing and smoking
2.30pm Late lunch and Homestead feast
The day will conclude with everyone sitting down in the homestead kitchen to enjoy a meal featuring some of the things you have just learned to make, a great chance to chat with Lucy and Mike and ask any questions that have come up through the day

The address is Cedarwood Homestead, Holton St Mary, Suffolk, CO7 6NJ. Your sat nav will take you closeby. You’ll see a some residential houses on the right opposite the triangular green, the Homestead is past those on the left.
Is there parking?
There is parking onsite, please park close to each other so that all attendees can fit in.
Can you cater for food allergies or intolerances?

Can I give a course as a gift?
Yes you can, please tick the gift check box when booking and you will be sent a printable pdf to give to the recipient. Please ensure you put their name as the attendee.
What happens after I book online?
